FossilQuests Begins This Sunday at Fossil Cove
I’ve been quaffing ales at Fossil Cove since it opened. It’s my local, the taproom in my own Woodland neighborhood, and I’ve watched it grow from a scrappy new brewery into one of the places that makes Fayetteville feel like Fayetteville.
So when we started looking for a home for ODD’s “dungeons-in-a-bar” Sunday game, there was only ever one answer.
This Sunday, July 26, we’re launching FossilQuests: a monthly open-table D&D event in the original Fossil Cove taproom.
It runs the fourth Sunday of every month, kicking off at noon, $25 a seat, no experience needed. Come solo or bring your party. Two tables, two very different adventures, and a seat and drink waiting for you.
Table One: The Vegvesir Sagas
At my table, we’re sailing into a Norse alternate history where longships bound for Vinland instead made landfall in Kallavirya, an ancient land that appears on no map. It’s a country of huldufolk watching from the treeline, hedonistic vampiric cats stalking the longhouses, and reptilian things far older than any saga moving through the fern breaks.
Think Skyrim meets True Blood meets Land of the Lost.
You’ll arrive as a newcomer to Rótgard, a frontier settlement built around what the Norse believe is Yggdrasil itself. The campaign runs in the West Marches style: the world is bigger than any one session, and it develops with each adventure. Every table adds to the map. Every rumor chased down becomes a note the next crew inherits. Your choices shape the settlement, the story, and the land.
Come once, have an ale and leave your mark, or come every month and watch an unknown country become a known one, charted by the players of Northwest Arkansas one Sunday at a time.
Table Two: The Heist
This month, Evan is running a Spelljammer caper: ships, wildspace, and one big score. If Vegvesir is the slow burn, this is the Buck Rogers fuse. Fast, loud, and the perfect Space Opera for a Sunday afternoon. This is the ideal first table if you want to try D&D with zero commitment beyond one gloriously bad decision.
Both tables run the newest edition of D&D. Characters provided, just bring yourself.
